North Carolina Superior Court Judge Jerry Tillett is facing sanctions from the North Carolina State Bar.  Tillett, who is the Chief Resident Superior Court Judge in the twenty-county First Division in the northeast corner of the state, received a public reprimand from the Judicial Standards Commission in 2013 for misusing his power in disputes with several Dare County government officials.

Exactly two years after accepting a reprimand by the North Carolina Judicial Standards Commission for entanglements in Kill Devil Hills’ town affairs and threats against the district attorney’s office, Superior Court Judge Jerry Tillett is facing a complaint from the North Carolina State Bar over questions of alleged unprofessional conduct related to the same imbroglio.

A North Carolina dental regulatory board made up mostly of dentists doesn’t have state-action immunity in an antitrust action, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled.

The 6-3 decision (PDF) allows a Federal Trade Commission challenge to the board’s clampdown on teeth whitening by nondentists.
